Website Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG)
-
ADA Compliance Standard
While specific ADA guidance for websites does not yet exist like it does for physical construction conditions, many courts have reviewed websites under the standards from the Worldwide Web Consortium’s Website Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG), version 2.1.
-
Greystar Standard
- Greystar adopted the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1, level AA, as our standard for compliance.
- To monitor our property website’s adherence to these standards, we formed a national partnership with SiteImprove, a third-party software company that tracks WCAG compliance and identifies opportunities for improvement.
- All U.S. property websites will feature an accessibility statement page to indicate our commitment to a great user experience for all website visitors.
- Based upon extensive research, Greystar has also determined it is appropriate to prohibit the use of Web Accessibility Overlay Tools on all Greystar websites.
The below risk recommendations for accessibility test scores are guidelines and are not a guarantee of compliance with ADA or FHA.
Current Greystar recommendations for community website accessibility scores:
Low risk = 90 score or higher
Medium risk = 75 score
Higher risk = below 75
